ART PRACTICE

Artist Statement

Something that concerns me is the lack of knowledge and understanding people have towards our environment.   I believe it is essential that we regain a greater awareness of our planet’s life and tune ourselves in with the natural world and take better care of it.

My motivation is having the chance to empower my audience to make a change in the way they see the world.

I create organic glass forms, working in the Pate de Verre style, that resonate an essence of forest organisms. This technique is  a form of kiln-casting where finely fritted glass is packed into a mould, it translates to mean ‘paste of glass’. The process is very important to my work as is it very fine and fragile, this to me represents the fragility of our world and the use of colour shows the beauty that the world contains.

I hope to open people's eyes to the beauty that we are destroying in our day to day lives. Society is becoming increasingly disconnected from nature.
